Perspective Carrière kicked off it’s programming on September 21 by presenting a conference on the integration of social media in business.
Hosted by networking expert and relationship marketing specialist Christian Masson, this workshop was exceptionally offered to the partners of this organization dedicated to immigrants, requiring counseling services in career transition and job search.
However, the latter will not be left behind, since a dozen networking and networking activities are planned, some of which are exclusively dedicated to women from the immigrant population. This is what the general manager Danielle Lemire announced, before handing over to her speaker for the evening.
A must
Social media has become a staple in business, says Christian Masson. Then Facebooks and Twitters of this world, to name a few, are helping to greatly democratize communications, he says, extolling the virtues of this type of mass social interaction technology. “Three in four North Americans use social media.” Still, according to this specialist, 10 of the 20 largest destinations on the Web are social media sites: we watch 82% of all videos seen on the web and we read 72% of all blogs. In terms of traffic, “social media has even overtaken pornographic sites on the Internet.” As for Facebook, the network has more than 500 million friends to its credit, nearly half of whom use them daily. Five billion links observed every day bring unprecedented significance to these “corridor conversations”. Users spend an average of 55 minutes a day there.
Internet users are asking for you
Christian Masson mentions that the Internet community expects to be solicited by the corporate world: “93% of users believe that any company should be present, while 85% believe that a simple presence is not enough. Businesses must interact ”.
Social media has literally transformed business relationships, continues the expert.
This is a very effective way to promote a product or a service, but also to look after its image and its reputation. Besides, social media perfectly serves the cause of customer service.
Especially since they allow, if not avoid, at the very least control the often irreparable damage that could cause, for example, a dissatisfied, frustrated and vindictive customer. Recent history is littered with murderous videos, viewed by hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Internet users in the days following their posting.
In fact, in large companies, suggests Mr. Masson, it is not uncommon for a community manager to be hired per department.
Finally, social media is also an interesting tool for recruiting, evaluating the true profile of job candidates, ensuring leadership in its sector of activity, and increasing sales.
