I’m sure her day is filled with fun activities and learning through PLAY. There is no evidence that ‘special language’ or ‘dance classes’ for pre-school children do much more than give Parents ‘bragging rights.’ On the other hand, opportunities to pick up morsels of a foreign language or dance skills ‘ casually integrated through play and conversation ‘ as part of the school day (at no extra cost) are great. Enrichment can come in the form of having a special candlelight dinner, having her set the table with you, cooking together, tea parties, and reading.
I hope that the extra-costs are not being proposed for activities that occur during the time your child is already at school. Naturally, you would expect to pay more only for ‘after school’ classes.’ Keep it simple. You love your daughter’s preschool. That means she is safe, making friends, liking the teachers, and is coming home smiling with lots of fun stories about school. Don’t be concerned about ‘enrichment’ classes, yet.

you’re right, after a week you will be thinking, ‘oh that wasn’t so bad.’ Right now though your worried, which could also mean you’re excited. It’s not knowing what will happen that can either worry you or get you excited for what is to come. Your mean teacher is now your favorite teacher. Every teacher expects something. DT – I think I do get the SUV joke, but don’t find it particularly clever. I believe that the SUV joke is a reference to the fact that if an SUV is ever involved in an accident with a non-SUV, the occupants of the non-SUV are much more likely to be injured or killed than the occupants of the SUV. This fact has often been used to attempt to dissuade people from buying SUVs (if you buy an SUV, you will kill people).
To me, though, it sounds more like an SUV sales pitch. Who in their right mind would not want to buy the vehicle that puts themselves and their family in the least amount of danger? I realize that there are many other factors to consider in buying a vehicle, but the relative safety of the SUV is a factor for, not against, choosing an SUV. To use this argument against SUVs is akin to saying that driving a Yugo keeps you safer than being a pedestrian and that this safety comes at the pedestrian’s expense. It’s ridiculous. The most important starting point is for Mom and Dad to love and respect each other. Why. Because so much of our children’s identity is wrapped up in Mom and Dad.
All of a sudden life has changed. The life you knew has been changed in a split 2nd. You and your better half join together and take a look at how and where you live. Many questions spring to mind. Do we have room for the baby? You tell each other you need to color, get baby furniture, baby clothes. you question if your vehicle will be sufficiently large for a car seat.
