Our client, Mrs. Frankie Forsh, was the subject of significant news coverage last week. Mrs. Forsh and Mr. Clay were in court last Tuesday at the Douglas County Courthouse for the final hearing regarding a brutal pit bull attack that took place in June of 2010.
For those of you who don’t know any information on this case, here is a quick synopsis. Mrs. Forsh, the wife of Douglas County High School athletic coach Chet Forsh, was attacked by three aggressive pit bulldogs while taking her morning walk in her Douglas County neighborhood. She was rescued by several neighbors who forced the dogs off of her. She was bitten on the face, arms, and legs and suffered serious injuries. The injuries required several surgeries and a long recovery.
We allege that the owner of the dogs was out of town and asked a family friend to watch them until he returned. The animals were left unattended when they jumped a child restraint gate and attacked. The defendants were charged with multiple offenses including reckless conduct, confinement of animals, and charges related to negligence.
“As a result of my faith, I am able to forgive them but not forget. I do think they need to step forward and take responsibility for their actions in which the owners do not want to do,” said Mrs. Forsh.
This event was a major tragedy for the Forsh family. Frankie spoke about the day that she was attacked, stating, “Thoughts going through my head that day was I’d never see my husband and my girls again.”
Mr. Clay asked the court to reward Mrs. Forsh with a sum of $1.25 million. At the end of last week, Judge Emerson came to a conclusion and awarded her $750,000 in damages. Unfortunately, our client will not receive any of the rewards due to the financial status of the defendants.
These types of events are rare, but if something like this happens to you or a family member, think of the law offices of Jack Clay.
